Timekeeping began with the Sumarians and Eygptians who used solar time pieces such as
sun dials and water clocks. The first large mechanical clocks appeared in the mid-fourteenth
century in Italy. Spring driven clocks finally appeared in the 1600s, but the first truly accurate
time clocks didn't make an appearance until the 1700s.
Today's modern clocks not only keep accurate time, but are also fashionable. Many pieces reflect
the decor of a home and can be as elaborate as a work of art. Whimisical clocks can add a touch of fun to a child's room, while a decorative wall clock can be artistic as well as functional. Color, shape, material and design are
all points to consider when choosing a clock for your home. Retro clocks are always fun to use in a kitchen or game room. You might even find some different ideas for gifts in our clock collection. You'll find wall clocks, kitchen clocks, wood clocks, alarm clocks, cuckoo clocks, table clocks, iron clocks and indoor/outdoor clocks among others to reflect your taste.
